Escondido, CA.—January 31, 2008—enXco, an EDF EN Company, is pleased to announce the completion of construction on the 198 MW Pomeroy Wind Farm. The project, owned by MidAmerican Energy Company, will produce enough energy to power approximately 85,000 homes. Located in Pocahontas County in North-central Iowa, the wind farm consists of 132 1.5 MW sle GE wind turbines.
"The Pomeroy construction has been largely changed by the weather conditions, in particular the heavy rains in the summer of 2007, but enXco is proud to have completed this project according to plans. This demonstrates once again our commitment to the MidAmerican Group for which enXco has developed, built and maintained wind farms on a continuous basis for more than 4 years." said Tristan Grimbert, enXco President & COO. "We are also proud that the Pomeroy Wind Farm will significantly contribute to MidAmerican Energy's renewable energy goals to provide clean electricity for Iowans and would like to thank the local community for the support demonstrated to the project as well as thank our partners MidAmerican, General Electric and Mortenson."
Iowa currently ranks third in the US for installed capacity. With the addition of the Pomeroy Wind Farm, approximately 12%, or 350,000 Iowa homes and businesses are powered by wind.
The project involved 67 landowners, which incorporates nearly 8,200 acres of agricultural ground. Over the course of the seven month construction process, nearly 200 construction workers, contributed to the success. enXco will also provide operations and maintenance services to the Pomeroy Wind Farm.
