Escondido, CA—November 21, 2005—enXco, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Xcel Energy for the purchase of all the electricity generated by an enXco's 205.5 MW wind power project in the State of Minnesota. The project currently has a proposed commercial operation date of November 2007.
"enXco is delighted to enter into this major contract with a premier utility such as Xcel Energy. With this project, we bring another 200+ MWs of wind power to Xcel Energy's territory. The Midwest Region is an essential piece of our plan to make enXco a leading development house across the country, and the number one provider of O&M services," said David Corchia, enXco's Chief Executive Officer. "We are on track to bring more than a thousand megawatts of wind power over our 2006-2008 business plan."
"Xcel Energy is on track to more than double its portfolio of wind generated electricity by 2012," said Price Hatcher, Xcel Energy's manager of renewable energy purchases. "This is another important step in carrying out that plan, and we look forward to working with enXco."
The residents and leaders of the local communities where the wind power project will be located are committed to wind-energy, as a way to promote positive economics within the region, as well as to grow the use of renewable energy in the United States, at a time when prices of oil and natural gas continue to rise to their highest levels ever.
enXco develops, constructs, operates and manages wind energy projects throughout the United States. Since 1987, enXco has grown to be the 4th largest owner of wind-energy installations in the United States (298 MW) and one of the largest O&M providers for wind farms, currently servicing more than 4000 turbines and more than 1000 MW. Since 2002 enXco has been an affiliate of EdF Energies Nouvelles.
