State Approves SDG&E Contract For Wind Power

San Diego, CA—May 25, 2006—San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) today announced that the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has approved its request to purchase 205.5 megawatts of electricity from enXco, a wind energy firm.

"The approval of this contract moves SDG&E closer to its goal of fulfilling 20 percent of its customers' energy needs from renewable resources by 2010," said Terry Farrelly, vice president of electric and gas procurement for SDG&E. The contract will contribute approximately 3.5 percent toward meeting that goal.

While a megawatt is enough to power 650 homes, wind energy output varies because it is an intermittent resource.

enXco will build a new wind facility in the Tehachapi area of Southern California and will produce energy scheduled to be delivered to SDG&E beginning in 2008.

In late 2004, the CPUC approved SDG&E's long-term renewable energy resource plan, which relies on a balanced mix of resources to meet the growing energy needs of San Diego. That mix includes increased emphasis on energy efficiency, more renewable energy resources, and additional baseload generation plants and transmission capacity.

SDG&E is a regulated public utility that provides safe and reliable energy service to 3.3 million consumers through 1.3 million electric meters and more than 800,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties. The utility's area spans 4,100 square miles. Exceptional customer service is a priority of SDG&E as it seeks to enhance the region's quality of life. SDG&E is a regulated subsidiary of Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE). Sempra Energy, based in San Diego, is a Fortune 500 energy services holding company.

enXco develops, constructs, operates and manages wind energy projects throughout the United States. Since 1987, enXco has grown to be a significant owner of wind-energy facilities in the United States with 312 MW under its control and the largest O&M 3rd party providers for wind farms, currently servicing more than 4,000 turbines and more than 1,000 MW. Since 2002 enXco has been an affiliate of EdF Energies Nouvelles. For more information, go to www.enxco.com.
