Lac-Mégantic, November 17, 2025 – The Government of Quebec has given the green light to the Haute-Chaudière Wind Farm by adopting the decree that officially authorizes its implementation. This decision marks a major milestone for the project, which will contribute to Québec’s energy transition and increase its low-carbon and renewable energy production capacity. The project partners, EDF solutions électriques and Énergie Renouvelable du Granit, a company owned by the 19 municipalities of the MRC, are proud to now be able to apply for the authorization and permits necessary to start construction work.
A promising project for the region and Quebec
The Haute-Chaudière Wind Farm, located on private and public forest land in the Frontenac, Audet and Lac-Mégantic areas, will produce 124 MW of renewable energy, thanks to 20 wind turbines that will be connected to the Hydro-Québec grid.
By producing the equivalent energy needed for more than 20,000 homes, the Haute-Chaudière Wind Farm contributes directly to the decarbonization of the Quebec economy, while sustainably reinvesting in local communities.
Next steps
The project teams will be mobilized in the field in the coming weeks to carry out preparatory work, including the development of access roads and wind turbine installation areas.
Construction work is expected to begin in November and is expected to be commissioned in early 2027. The project will be carried out in collaboration with local companies and suppliers, with a view to sustainable development that is beneficial to the community.
Citizens are invited to follow the progress of the project and updates on the official website of the Haute-Chaudière Wind Farm.
