How did you come to work at EDF power solutions?
I went to school knowing I wanted a career that fought climate change or pollution in some way. I did a co-op in distributed solar my junior year of college, and I felt that click when you find what you want to do with the rest of your life. I came to EDF power solutions five years ago hoping to find a company like my parents had worked for—one that cares about you as a person rather than accepting high turnover to meet a bottom line. Working for EDF, I’ve seen how the company actively works to embody its values, like passion and accountability, which really align with my own values.

Describe your current role.
As a Lead Design Engineer, I draft and review engineering drawings. I perform calculations to ensure site and worker safety, and to verify equipment code compliance and efficiency. I also visit sites to confirm that our designs are built to specification. It’s exciting because I’m always learning about new technology and changes in our industry!
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
As an engineer, I get immense satisfaction going to a site and seeing that something I designed is working as intended. As a citizen of the earth, I feel a sense of purpose every single day I show up and move a project forward, knowing that I am helping create a more sustainable and secure energy future. As an EDF power solutions team member, I love seeing my colleagues grow and get recognized for the great work they do.
What is one lesson you’ve learned during your time here that you’d like to share with others?
I’ve learned that people really appreciate it when you show up. I don’t need to be on site all the time, but our teammates on-site—and the contractors we work with—feel more comfortable giving you a call when they’ve met you in person. That comfort level can solve problems before they happen.
What do you enjoy most about the company culture?
I enjoy working in a culture that encourages continuous improvement—new ideas are welcomed, and people are empowered to keep learning and growing. I also love how everyone is passionate about helping the planet.
What personal achievement are you most proud of?
I’m incredibly proud of my involvement with a local foundation that offers scholarships to students who want to become engineers. Through this foundation, I’ve had the opportunity to teach kids about engineering and guide young girls and women in seeing what it looks like to have a career in STEM. Making those connections and inspiring the next generation of female engineers means a lot to me.
What is your favorite energy innovation?
I love keeping track of clean energy solutions that empower everyday people. I’m particularly excited watching how the electric vehicle (EV) market evolves. Innovations in the EV market represent bold steps toward widely accessible sustainable energy, one of my strongest career motivations.
